About AE exhibitions

A LARGE VISION ON FIBER ARTS
Author and the founder of the project  ‘Asia-Europe’ – contemporary fiber art exhibition is artist Erny Piret and her idea of a dialogue in contemporary textile art was born on the occasion of the Biennial of Kaunas (Lithuania) and the very first Asia -Europe1 was a satellite exhibition of Biennial of Kaunas 2009.
Erny had cooperation with Japanese fiber artists e.g.  Kakuko Ishii from Fukuoka, who was helping in contacts to Japan, practical matters and translations. Marialuisa Sponga helped Erny to find European artists to  exhibitin AE1-2 (source: Erny Piret). 

Due to Erny’s high age, she asked Marika Szaraz, Hungarian artist in Brussels, to take over the organizing work of AE3 2016-18. 

The exhibition ‘Asia-Europe’ presents innovative artistic creations in relation with Asian and European countries and their textile techniques.

Still a bit more than a month to visit the exhibition that has been said "interesting", "wau", "deep with meanings", "surprising"... 30. Asia-Europe 5 opens in Poikilo Museum , Kouvola, Finland 29. Sept, 2021 at 18-20. This exhibition presents works by 36 artists with backgrounds in Asian and European countries. AE5 is a continuation of series of exhibitions started by Erny Piret and will tour in 4 European countries until 2023. The exhibition is curated by Marika Szaraz and Raija Jokinen. Selected works of art have been made with materials and techniques connected to textile tradition but the perspective is updated and fresh basing to personal research and innovations.
